Kitchen flooring damaged in Beckley WV

This is wood flooring that was destroyed by a dishwasher that malfunctioned.

Ask any family member what their favorite appliance is in the kitchen and the majority will say the “dishwasher”.

Why? It is so much easier to load dirty dishes and push a start button than it is to stand over a sink washing, rinsing, and drying. The dishwasher does all three steps and you can take a relaxing break while it does all work.

But it can also become your enemy by causing costly residential flooding. In certain circumstances you may be able to prevent damage by checking the two water lines that are connected to your dishwasher twice a year. The hoses can deteriorate over time and leak or blow out in the middle of the cleaning cycle disbursing gallons of water.

It is highly recommended that you operate your dishwasher when you are at home. Do not turn it on and walk out the door to work or run errands. If you are home and see the leak you can quickly shut off the appliance or the main water source and soak up as much water as possible to avoid further damage.
