Tip for Labor Day Weekend -Protect your home and contents

8/20/2018 (Permalink)

A dumpster and lawn full of personal belongings destroyed after thousands of gallons of water ran through a residence while the family vacationed.

Summer Season is almost over and the upcoming Labor Day weekend is the reminder that Fall Season is near. A lot of families want to relish in that last summer “long” weekend so trips are planned to be near water.

It may be at the beach, lake, or river but they want this weekend to be filled with water sports like boating, kayaking, floating, or fishing. What they don’t want is to return home late Monday evening to a water filled residence.

Plumbing leaks happen and the common causes are from:

            Toilets, showers, tubs, and sinks.

            Ice makers, dishwashers

            Washing machines, water heaters

You don’t have to go to each of these and shut them off, instead go to your main water shut-off valve.  Water leaks can be very damaging and costly especially if you are away from home for days before the leak is discovered. By turning off the main water line you can prevent thousands of gallons of water from flowing through your residence.
